Risk Management Services

One of the most important functions of Risk Management Services is its role in assisting member physicians improve the quality of patient care in their practices. New MPT members are first introduced to CAP Risk Management Services when they attend the award-winning risk management/loss prevention program seminar. This seminar is accredited through the California Medical Association (CMA) and earns the attending member three units of Continuing Medical Education. Risk Management representatives also provide in-office education, practice risk assessments and arbitration-implementation guidance. They also provide further risk management guidance through the quarterly CAPsules newsletter, specialty-specific publications, and bulletins.

Claims Services

Through Claims Services, members have access to more than 20 years of experience in cost-effective resolution of professional liability claims. When a member learns of an incident or claim, he/she can get immediate assistance by dialing the 24-hour hotline, or by calling Claims Services during business hours. Upon the opening of a claim, the member receives an on site visit by an experienced claims specialist who explains the claims process and gains a close understanding of the medical care rendered. Claim decisions are guided by the physician claims review committees.
